Heeramandi's song Sakal Ban released on Saturday and gave the audience an introduction into the world of Heeramandi.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Heeramandi, which has been in the making for a few years now, finally released its first song on Saturday. The song titled Sakal Ban looks just as grand as one would have imagined. Bhansali is known for creating massive, grand sets that are intricately done with the best of props and actors donning the most beautiful costumes.
The song features the cast of the show including Manisha Koirala, Richa Chaddha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sharmin Sehgal as they all dance to the track. The song has been sung by Raja Hasan. In the credits, the composition is credited as “traditional and lyrics have been credited to 14th century poet Amir Khusro.
The visuals, especially the colour palette of the song, is quite reminiscent of Bajirao Mastani’s song ‘Deewani Mastani’.
Heeramandi also stars Sonakshi Sinha and in a recent chat at FICCI Frames 2024, she spoke about her experience of working with Bhansali and said, “He has been very encouraging… We tried to work together but it didn’t work out, and we were always in touch. Every time I went to his office, we would chat over coffee.”
She added,“I was like sir, ‘Every time I come to your office, we have coffee and then I leave. I’m not having coffee with you, I will have tea.’ I had tea (and) we had the same sort of conversation and I went home. And then, I am in Heeramandi. So, tea is the answer guys, not coffee.”
Heeramandi marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s foray into digital space. The show is a eight-part series, which will stream on Netflix.
