After two successful films, the Dune universe is ready to expand into the OTT space with its brand-new series Dune: Prophecy. Indian fans of the franchise are particularly excited for the series, as it stars critically acclaimed actor Tabu in the pivotal role of Sister Francesca. The makers unveiled the trailer on Friday, sparking excitement among Tabu’s fans, who couldn’t contain their enthusiasm. Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, a close friend of Tabu, also lauded the actor on social media.
The trailer showcases Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, the leader of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood, discussing how the sisterhood operates behind the scenes to protect their species and govern the kingdoms through soft power. Olivia Williams portrays Tula Harkonnen, Valya’s sister, and together with Tabu’s Sister Francesca, the trio faces forces that threaten the future of humankind.
The official synopsis of the show reads, “10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, DUNE: PROPHECY follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. DUNE: PROPHECY is inspired by the novel SISTERHOOD OF DUNE, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.”
In addition to the trailer, the makers also revealed the show’s release date. The six-episode series will be available to stream on JioCinema Premium starting November 18.
