Toxic: Rocking Star Yash’s KGF follow-up is a ‘fairy-tale for grown-ups’; watch announcement video here
The title for 'Rocking Star' Yash's new film has been unveiled. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film has been titled Toxic.

‘Rocking Star’ Yash has finally announced his follow-up to KGF: Chapter 2. The Kannada star will headline director Geetu Mohandas‘ Toxic, described in a recently released video as ‘a fairy-tale for grown-ups’. The short video doesn’t reveal any footage from the movie, nor does it give an idea of what the film’s plot will be, but through a series of animated visuals, it gives a sense of the tone.
We see shots of Joker cards, explosions, and a quick glimpse of a man wearing a hat, smoking a cigar, and brandishing what looks like a Tommy gun. Is Toxic a period gangster movie? Or is it an anti-hero crime thriller in the vein of Todd Phillips’ Joker movie. It looks like the movie will continue the blockbuster trend of major movie stars playing violent men, following in the footsteps of Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, Vijay’s Leo, and most recently, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.
While this is in line with Yash’s past work – the KGF blockbusters feature him as a violent avenger – Toxic marks a creative leap for director Geetu Mohandas, who last directed the acclaimed Malayalam movie Moothon, which investigated toxic masculinity in addition to addressing LGBTQ themes rather tenderly. Sharing her thoughts about the film, Geetu Mohandas said, “I’ve always experimented with my style of narratives. Although Liar’s Dice and Moothon were received well internationally, I’ve always craved to find my own audience in my country . This project stemmed from that thought. This film is an amalgamation of two opposite worlds and aesthetics in story telling coming together and I found Yash . Who is one of the most brilliant minds I have come across and I’m excited for our team to begin this magical journey.”

Yash is also expected to reprise his role in the third installment of the KGF series. Director Prashanth Neel recently told Pinkvilla that the script for KGF 3 has been locked, and joked that even though he might not return as the director, there’s no way that Yash won’t be back. “I don’t know if I am the director or not, but Yash will always be a part of it,” he said. The first KGF movie emerged as a crossover hit, and became a rage across India. It became the highest-grossing Kannada film at the time, with a Rs 250 crore global gross. KGF 2 was an even bigger hit; the movie made over Rs 1200 crore worldwide, and established Yash as a pan-India star.
