War 2 Telugu distributor responds to claims he’s quitting industry after Jr NTR-Hrithik Roshan film’s underperformance: ‘Sorry…’
Naga Vamsi has denied claims that he has called it quits from the industry due to the abysmal performance of War 2 in Andhra Pradesh.

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, released to much fanfare and anticipation, being the new installment of YRF’s ongoing ‘Spy franchise’. However, the espionage thriller released alongside Rajinikanth’s Coolie on Independence Day week has been drawing fewer crowds as compared to the Tamil action film. Now, in between all the confusion regarding the decreasing footfalls and lack of excitement around Ayan Mukherjee’s directorial, unconfirmed reports claimed that the film’s Telugu distributor, Naga Vamsi, had called it quits from the industry.

This was in the context of a speech made by the producer during the film’s promotional event in Hyderabad a few days ago, where he proclaimed that he had already watched the film (War 2) and assured the audience that it would be a treat for all. According to the Great Andhra report, the Telugu version of the film, which was acquired for approximately Rs 80 crores, has incurred heavy losses in the regional market. The report also states that Yash Raj films might be compensating the distributor for the losses with a 22 crore settlement; the details of the breakdown remain unknown.

However, Naga Vamsi himself took to his Twitter handle to clarify the confusion online. The producer wrote, “It seems like you are missing me too much. There seem to be gripping narratives on Vamsi this and Vamsi that. It’s okay, there seem to be good writers on X. Sorry to disappoint you all, but that time hasn’t come yet… A minimum of 10-15 years remain for it. At the cinemas… for the cinema, always! See you all with our next outing #MassJathara, Very Soon!”
War 2 is facing tough days ahead with Rajinikanth coolie performing better in regional language versions.
