Ever since the release of its teaser back on October 22, 2022, Adipurush was getting trolled for its poor VFX. However, the film’s release opened an entirely new can of worms as the film’s use of colloquial dialogues angered members of the audience. While the dialogues were later changed, the damage had been done with box office collection of Prabhas-Kriti Sanon-starrer tanking after a good first weekend. Now, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has taken a dig at the film.

Shewag, who is vocal on Twitter, sarcastically tweeted, “Adipurush dekhkar pata chala Katappa ne Bahubali ko kyun maara tha (After watching Adipurush, you realise why Kattappa killed Baahubali (who was played by Prabhas).” Prabhas plays the role of Raghav in the film. Sehwag’s tweet didn’t go down well with the fans of the Telugu star, who have been pretty vocal in defending the film ever since its release. A man was also roughed up in Hyderabad after he gave a negative review to the film.

Many trolls attacked Sehwag and his achievements as a cricketer. Many handles claimed that Sehwag’s highest score in Test cricket is 319 (the highest Test score by any Indian batsman), while Prabha s’s Adipurush has earned more than Rs 340 crore in ten days (unconfirmed figures). Many also agreed with Sehwag, with one person terming the tweet the best sixer hit by the cricketer.

Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, is based on the Hindu epic Ramayan. Prabhas played the role of Raghav, who goes to war with Lankesh (Saif Ali Khan) to get back his wife Janaki (Sita). The film was panned by critics for being flat and superficial. The visual effects and the aesthetics were also called out for being subpar. However, the film earned more than Rs 274 crore at the box office in India in ten days.
