Vijay Sethupathi’s maiden film with maverick filmmaker Puri Jagannadh to go on floors this June

The Vijay Sethupathi-Puri Jagannadh combo is expected to be a solid comeback for the filmmaker, who gave multiple cult hits in Telugu, including Pokkiri, Businessman, and Ek Niranjan.

Vijay Sethupathi has had an interesting couple of years with stellar roles in films like Vikram and Jawan, and delivering a solo blockbuster with Maharaja in 2024. In contrast, maverick director Puri Jagannadh has had a torrid run at the box-office with back-to-back disappointments like Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger and Ram Pothineni’s Double iSmart. With speculations doing the rounds that Vijay Sethupathi and Puri Jagannadh were collaborating for a new project, the duo made it official on the festive occasion of Ugadi.

Sharing a photo of Puri with Vijay and Charmme, team Puri Connects wrote, “This auspicious day of Ugadi, embarking on an electrifying new chapter with a sensational collaboration. Dashing Director Puri Jagannadh and powerhouse performer Makkalselvan Vijay Sethupathi join forces for a Masterpiece in all Indian languages.”

The film, which is backed by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme’s Puri Connects banner, is expected to go on floors this June.

The Vijay Sethupathi-Puri Jagannadh combo is expected to be a solid comeback for the filmmaker, who gave multiple cult hits in Telugu, including Pokkiri, Businessman, and Idiot. Vijay Sethupathi, who made his full-fledged Telugu debut with Buchi Babu Sana’s Uppena (2021), has not acted in a straight Telugu film since then despite garnering a decent fan following for many of his dubbed films, including the recent Vetrimaaran film, Viduthalai 2.
