Ravi Teja-starrer Tiger Nageswara Rao released in theatres on Friday and had a mediocre start at the box office. The Vamsee directorial is a Telugu period action thriller and stars Nupur Sanon, Gayatri Bhardwaj, Anupam Kher, Renu Desai, Jisshu Sengupta and Murali Sharma in titular roles. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 8 crore nett in India. The film released in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.

The film saw an overall occupancy of 53.18% in Telugu and is expected to get better over the Dussehra weekend. The night shows saw an occupancy of 69.72% and the morning shows saw an occupancy of 49.46%. In Hyderabad, the film has 360 shows and saw 56.5% occupancy.

Ravi Teja was last seen in Ravanasura, which made only Rs 6 crore on its opening day. Earlier this year, he was seen in Waltair Veerayya which made Rs 29.6 crore on opening day.

Tiger Nageswara marks the feature film debut of Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon’s sister Nupur and the film has clashed against Kriti starrer Ganapath, directed by Vikas Bahl.

Nupur previously spoke about her debut film and said in a statement, “It’s an absolute pleasure for me to debut as a lead with this action-packed drama film, opposite Ravi Teja Sir. Additionally, the film’s release in sign language makes me super proud to be associated with the makers. The journey has been incredible, and I hope the audiences enjoys our film as much as we’ve enjoyed being a part of it.”
