In a significant setback for director Sujeeth’s They Call Him OG, starring actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, the Telangana High Court has rejected the permission for the special show of the movie that was scheduled for Wednesday night.

Issuing an interim suspension of the state government memo that permitted a special premiere show of the movie at 9 pm on Wednesday, just hours before the show was scheduled to commence, the HC also refused to approve the proposed hike in ticket prices for the film, NDTV reported.

In an order issued on Friday, September 19, the Telangana government had permitted the makers of the movie to organise a single special show in the state at 9 pm on Wednesday, charging Rs 800 (including GST) for the tickets. It had also granted permission to cinema halls to temporarily increase ticket prices for all regular shows from September 25 to October 4. Even as single-screen theatres were allowed to charge an additional Rs 100, multiplexes could charge an extra Rs 150.

While hearing a petition filed against the memo, Justice NV Shravan Kumar of the Telangana HC issued the stay order, leaving both the makers and fans, who had already booked tickets for the special show and other upcoming shows, in limbo.
