Teja Sajja on Hanu Man’s box office clash with Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav: ‘Audience in our culture is ready to watch three-four films…’

Teja Sajja's fantasy sci-fi film Hanu Man will release on January 12, clashing with Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram, Venkatesh Daggubati's Saindhav and Nagarjuna's Naa Saami Ranga.

Telugu actor Teja Sajja is all set to go pan-India with his upcoming release Hanu Man. However, on his home turf, the film will compete at the box office with Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Venkatesh Daggubati’s Saindhav and Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga. But the clash doesn’t bother Teja because he believes the Telugu audience has an appetite to watch multiple films during Sankranthi.

In an interview with indianexpress.com, the actor said, “We have always had three or more films releasing during Sankranthi. In the last six years, I can tell you the big releases on Sankranthi. I am that much a film buff. Only this time, it’s four films, and all of them are major star films. That is the only difference.”

The actor added, “I feel the audience in our culture is ready to watch three or more films for Sankranthi because we have holidays for five to six days. It’s a holiday season, and we will not have big releases until February first or second week. So we will have a dream run. If word-of-mouth is good and people like the film, then it will run for a good time.”

Hanu Man, directed by Prashanth Varma, shows a young man blessed with the powers of Hanuman. While there have been several superhero films in India, like the Hindi film Krrish and the Malayalam movie Minnal Murali, Teja Sajja points out what makes his film unique.

“A superhero film often follows the same template. For the first time, we have mixed itihas (history) with the superhero idea. It is never seen that with God’s blessings, a person has got these powers,” said Teja.

Sounding optimistic about his film, he added, “That is the difference. As we go into the film, you will understand the connection between the hero and the powers coming from God. That will be very exciting to watch on screen, with great vfx.”
