Samantha Ruth Prabhu says working with Malayalam actors is like going to ‘acting school’: ‘They have an edge, surprise you’

“When I work with a Malayalam actor, it is like going to an acting school. Because when we act, we tend to have a comfort level the way we take our pauses, we go into a rhythm that becomes (a template). You can tell, ‘Samantha will do this!’ But that surprise factor happens a lot with Malayalam actors.

“They will surprise you. You will think that Fahadh Faasil will do this, but he won’t do that. That way, most Malayalam actors have that edge in acting. That’s very inspiring and I look up to them in that way. Not just actors, actresses as well, every single one of them. It’s just so lucky and so bad that they have this kind of talent!” she added.

Shaakuntalam revolves around the love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant from Mahabharata, portrayed by Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan. The film is based on the Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa.

Shaakuntalam marks the acting debut of Telugu star Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha, who will play the role of Prince Bharat in the film. The Gunasekhar directoral is set for a theatrical release on April 14.

Post that, Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen in Amazon Prime Video series Citadel India, directed by Raj and DK. Samantha also has Kushi in the pipeline, with Vijay Deverakonda, which will release on September 1.
