As New Year’s festivities continued on Monday, director Prashanth Neel’s Salaar made a leap towards the Rs 400 crore mark in the domestic market. Starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film was witnessing a decline in its collections during the weekdays, but it got back on track during the lucrative New Year’s weekend.

Salaar’s box office collection on Day 11 stood at Rs 15.5 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This brought the film’s total nett collection in India to Rs 360.77 crore. The Telugu version of the film continued to contribute the largest share to the total earnings, with an occupancy of 48.75%. After Telugu, the Hindi version of the film is the highest contributor with 28.03% occupancy on Monday. This is followed by 20.26% Tamil occupancy and 16.32% Malayalam occupancy.

Globally, the film has grossed Rs 625 crore worldwide so far, as per Hombale Films. It is just Rs 25 crore shy of crossing the first Baahubali’s worldwide collection of Rs 650 crore. But Salaar has already zoomed past Vijay’s Leo which earned Rs 605 crore across the globe earlier this year, and has also overtaken the lifetime global haul of Rajinikanth’s Jailer. Salaar is now the fifth-biggest Indian film of 2023. However, overtaking Jawan’s Rs 1100 crore-plus haul might prove to be difficult. While Jawan earned Rs 389.88 crore in its first week, Salaar’s collection was Rs 308 crore. The Prabhas’ film could only break the opening day record of the Atlee’s actioner by earning Rs 90.7 crore.

Meanwhile, actor Prabhas is grateful to his audience for supporting Salaar. On Monday, he wished his fans a Happy New Year and wrote on Instagram, and wrote, “While I decide the fate of Khansaar⚔️💥, you all sit back and have a fantastic New Year darlings! Thank you for owning #SalaarCeaseFire and making it a big success.” The actor had been struggling to deliver a hit since 2017. After Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, his following three releases — Saaho, Radhe Shyam and Adipurush — all tanked at the box office.
