Actor-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence had the most diverse career graph in 2023. After starring in a lacklustre sequel to the blockbuster Chandramukhi, and playing the lead in the disastrous Rudhran that only pegged his career back by more than a couple of paces, he starred in a career-defining role in Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda DoubleX. Post the success of the film, which also featured SJ Suryah and Nimisha Sajayan, Lawrence has been on a signing spree.

Capitalising on the goodwill gained from the sequel to the 2014 blockbuster Jigarthanda, Raghava Lawrence is set to be part of interesting films that would test his acting capabilities. Joining this list is director Ramesh Varma’s next, which also marks the choreographer-actor-filmmaker’s 25th movie as an actor.

Tentatively titled RL 25, the project will be backed by Koneru Satyanarayana’s A Studios LLP in collaboration with Neeladri Productions and Hawwish Productions. In the announcement poster of the film, we see the silhouette of Lawrence sporting a new hairdo, standing on a railway track, and facing a blazing inferno. Reports suggest that this movie is the official remake of Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Kill, which starred Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, and Tanya Maniktala in pivotal roles. However, there have been no official updates about this speculation.

Here’s the post:

Ramesh Varma, known for helming the films Rakshasudu (a remake of the Tamil film Ratsasan) and Khiladi, is teaming up with Koneru Satyanarayana for the third time after the two aforementioned films. The movie is expected to go on floors in November 2024, and hit the screens in 2025. RL 25 will be released in both Tamil and Telugu to cater to the fanbase of Lawrence in both the industries.

Apart from RL 25, Raghava Lawrence already has two other films in the pipeline. Adhigaaram, scripted by Vetri Maaran, and backed by producer Kathiresan, and Bakkiyaraj Kannan’s Benz, bankrolled by Lokesh Kanagaraj, are the two movies that are currently in various stages of production.
