Namrata Shirodkar opens up about daughter Sitara Ghattamaneni’s acting debut: ‘She is just 12’

Recently, there was a viral video of Gautam performing a mime-act that showcased his acting talents. He is currently pursuing a degree in arts at the New York University. Similarly, Sitara, who is 12, has a huge social media profile, and has starred in a few advertisements, including one with her father Mahesh Babu. In fact, Sitara has already entered the industry by dubbing for baby Elsa in the Telugu version of Disney’s Frozen 2.

And in a recent media interaction, Sitara, who was joined by Namrata, was asked about her impending big screen debut. The smart youngster simply pointed towards her mother to take this question. Namrata, who first appeared onscreen as a five-year-old in Shirdi ke Sai Baba, said, “Sitara is just 12 years old now, so there’s a lot of time left for us to discuss it.”

While it is not new for star kids to appear in the films of their parents or play important roles in big projects before making their inevitable plunge into cinema, both Gautam and Sitara are taking it slow, but still firmly remaining under media’s glare. This is a new trend for star kids of this generation who embrace the privilege of their stardom, and hope to create the right impact on the way to the ultimate destination — the big screen.

In the same interaction, Namrata was also asked about the filming of SS Rajamouli’s next with Mahesh Babu, which is tentatively titled, SSMB 29. Unwilling to say anything that isn’t already there in the open, Namrata said, “Silence is the best formula for the time being.”

Meanwhile, even though the makers of SSMB 29 haven’t announced the rest of the star cast, it has now become clear, thanks to leaked videos and official posts by other stakeholders of the film, that the film stars Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles.
