Naga Chaitanya says ‘countdown for my marriage’ has started, opens up about wedding plans with Sobhita Dhulipala

After a video of Naga Chaitanya dressed as a groom and arriving with a baraat stirred up speculations on social media, the actor opened up about his marriage plans Sobhita Dhulipala.

Actor Naga Chaitanya took the internet by storm on Tuesday after a video of him dressed up in a groom’s outfit started circulating online. Fans of the actor were left confused as they thought that the actor, who recently got engaged to Sobhita Dhulipala, was getting married. But, that wasn’t the case. The actor was present to launch the wedding collection of a clothing brand and spoke to mediapersons at the event. Chay admitted that this was a “countdown for my marriage” but did not give many details for his wedding date and venue.

At the event, when Naga Chaitanya was asked if this was like a rehearsal for his upcoming wedding with Sobhita, he said, “Perhaps you could think so, that it’s a countdown kinda for my marriage.” He was also asked if he would want a big fat Indian wedding or a lowkey wedding and the actor shared, “Marriage is about the people who mean a lot to me. It doesn’t have to be a big fat wedding but people keeping up with the cultures and traditions in mind, so that’s how I want it (marriage) to be.”

Naga Chaitanya was also asked about the date and venue for his wedding to Sobhita, and the actor said nothing has been decided as of yet. On August 8, Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya got engaged at the latter’s home. Making their relationship official, they wrote, “What could my mother be to yours? What kin is my father to yours anyway? And how did you and I meet ever? But in love our hearts are as red earth and pouring rain: mingled beyond parting. –From Kurunthogai, translated by A K Ramanujan.”

Chaitanya’s father Nagaarjuna Akkineni had also officially announced the engagement on social media officially welcoming Sobhita into their family. In an earlier chat with Times Now, the veteran actor said that Chay and Sobhita decided to have a rushed engagement as this was an auspicious date. “We chose this day because it was very auspicious. Both families consulted the Nakshatras, and when we were told August 8 was a very auspicious day, we decided to go ahead with it,” he said.

Naga Chaitanya was earlier married to actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the two lovebirds had taken the plunge in 2017, and the two parted ways in 2021.
