Confident with the hype surrounding Mr Bachchan, the makers even decided to conduct paid premiere shows on August 14, a day ahead of its official release on August 15. However, the Ravi Teja film, directed by Harish Shankar, failed to recreate the magic of their previous endeavours. The film, which earned around Rs 5.3 crore in its first six shows, including the premieres, had a drastic drop to Rs 1.1 crore on Day 2. Things got more dire on Day 3, as the film managed to amass just Rs 0.85 crore. Despite the film being lauded for its music, and the mass of the ‘Mass Maharaj’ Ravi Teja, Mr Bachchan didn’t make any dents at the box-office. The film was not only subject to negative responses, but many Ravi Teja fans urged their matinee idol to get back on the saddle and choose films that suit his stature. Mr Bachchan had an abysmal 18.25 per cent occupancy on Saturday, and is considered to be one of the worst performing Ravi Teja films in recent times.
