Lakshmi Manchu justifies hitting man during SIIMA 2023 interview: ‘He got what he deserved’
After a video went viral showing Lakshmi Manchu hitting a person in the back during SIIMA 2023, she offered her response to the incident, firmly maintaining her stance that she stands by her actions.

Earlier this month, Telugu actor Lakshmi Manchu made headlines after a video showing her hitting a person in the back went viral. She has now offered her response to the incident at an awards show, firmly maintaining her stance that she stands by her actions.
The incident happened during the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2023 event in Dubai, where the actor was talking to the media. In a viral video, the actor was conversing with an interviewer on the red carpet when a person abruptly crossed in front of the camera. Frustrated by this, Lakshmi expressed her displeasure by striking the person’s back. When another man tried to block her interview, Lakshmi said, “Go behind the camera dude. Basic.”

Asserting that the man deserved it, Lakshmi Manchu pointed out that he very well knew she was on a red carpet. “It was not some random person taking a video. But he was so nonchalant and just walked through the camera. I am an actor, you don’t come in front of my camera. Never do that with any artiste. He rightly got what he deserved. These are basic manners that people don’t have. I slapped him and he deserved it. I didn’t go out of my way. He came into my world,” Lakshmi told Hindustan Times.
Mentioning that the interviewer had asked the cameraperson not to record it, the actor said that she was not afraid of the clip getting out. “I asked her to keep it. I can protect myself. I don’t care if it gets out. I am also an interviewer and have seen people come and say certain things where they feel they have shared too much. And then I get a call back asking me not to air that. I’ve done that for every celebrity and you respect them. But I don’t care,” she added.
Lakshmi Manchu is the daughter of actor Mohan Babu and late Vidya Devi. She made her Tollywood debut in the 2011 film Anaganaga O Dheerudu. The actor has since been a part of several movies, including Lakshmi Bomb, W/O Ram, Pitta Kathalu, Monster and Guntur Talkies among others.
Lakshmi’s last film appearance was in the 2022 Malayalam actioner Monster, starring Mohanlal in the lead role.
