Kalki 2898 AD producer lauds Nag Ashwin’s ‘calm’ response to Arshad Warsi calling Prabhas a ‘joker’: ‘He only wished he used better language’
Kalki 2898 AD co-producer Swapna Dutt, also Nag Ashwin's sister-in-law, has reacted to Arshad Warsi's remark calling Prabhas a 'joker'.

Arshad Warsi recently sparked controversy on social media when he said that Prabhas ‘looked like a joker’ in Kalki 2898 AD. The remark divided opinions online, with Prabhas’ fans criticising Arshad for his distasteful comment, while others defended Arshad’s right to express his opinion. The film’s director, Nag Ashwin, also responded, advising Arshad to choose his words more carefully. Now, Kalki 2898 AD co-producer Swapna Dutt, who is also Nag Ashwin’s sister-in-law, has shared her reaction to the incident.
Swapna praised Nag Ashwin’s composed response to Arshad’s statement during an interview with News18. She said, “I loved the way Nagi reacted to it. We stayed calm because the film proved for itself what it is. Prabhas was fantastic in the film as he always is. We’ve to give it to the magnanimity of Nag Ashwin and Prabhas. They’re just so easy on these things.”
She added, “Nagi tweeted recently saying that he will be sending him a toy and work harder for part two. He only wished that he (Arshad) used better language and that makes Nagi who and what he is.”
Previously, Nag Ashwin had shared on X, “Let’s not go backwards… no more north-south or bolly vs tolly (Bollywood vs Tollywood)… eyes on the bigger picture… united Indian film industry… Arshad saab (sir) should have chosen his words better… but it’s ok… sending Buji toys for his kids… I will work hard so tweets… that Prabhas was the best ever in K2.”
Other celebrities involved with the film also reacted strongly to Arshad’s comment. Kalki 2898 AD co-star Saswata Chatterjee supported Prabhas, stating that “he was the best choice for the role,” while Telugu actor Nani dismissed Arshad’s remark as a “publicity stunt.” Nani later regretted his words and said that the matter was blown out of proportion. Co-producer Dil Raju and director Ajay Bhupathi also criticised the Jolly LLB actor for his statement.
