Veteran actor, and Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader, Prakash Raj, questioned Konda Surekha’s mindset and wrote on X, “What shameless politics… women who act in movies are small?”

Konda Surekha’s statement has received a lot of backlash online. Actors Samantha and Naga Chaitanya had earlier dismissed the “baseless” claims. Samantha, in a note, warned Konda Surekha to “keep her out of politics”. Meanwhile, Naga Chaitanya had written in a separate note, “Exploiting the personal life decisions of celebrities for the sake of media headlines is shameful.” Other members of the Akkineni family, including Nagarjuna’s second wife Amala Akkineni, his brother Akhil Akkineni, and Nagarjuna himself, asked Konda Surekha to “withdraw” her comments “immediately”.

After all the backlash, she took to her official X handle to retract her statement. She said, “My comments are meant to question a leader’s belittling of women and not to hurt your sentiments, Samantha. The way you have grown up with self-power is not only an admiration for me.. but also an ideal. If you or your fans are offended by my comments, I unconditionally retract my comments.. Don’t think otherwise.”
