After a blockbuster opening, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 109th film, Daaku Maharaaj, experienced a significant dip in collections on its second day of release. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film had a strong start, raking in Rs 25.35 crore on its opening day. However, despite Monday being a Sankranthi holiday, the film witnessed a nearly 50 percent drop, earning only Rs 13.5 crore. After two days in theatres, Daaku Maharaaj has managed to collect Rs 38.85 crore in the domestic market.

The film is facing tough competition from Ram Charan’s Game Changer, which hit theatres on January 10, two days before Daaku Maharaaj. Similar to Balakrishna’s film, Game Changer also experienced a 50 percent dip in collections on its second day. Despite high expectations, the Ram Charan and Kiara Advani-starrer has struggled with a steady decline in numbers. On Sunday, the day Daaku Maharaaj was released, Game Changer fell behind, earning Rs 15.9 crore compared to Daaku Maharaaj’s Rs 25.35 crore.

Adding to the competition is Pushpa 2, which remains strong even in its sixth week. The Allu Arjun-starrer continues to attract audiences, posing a challenge to newer releases. Moreover, Venkatesh Daggubati’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which hit theatres on Tuesday, is also expected to add to the competitive Sankranthi lineup, potentially affecting Daaku Maharaaj’s box office performance further.

The film has garnered attention for its unique storyline, where Balakrishna plays a dacoit who reforms and becomes a civil servant. Thaman’s captivating background score has been a major highlight, generating buzz around the film.

The film also marks Bollywood actor Bobby Deol’s debut in Telugu cinema. He plays Singh Thakur, the antagonist in this thriller. The ensemble cast also includes female leads Chandhini Chowdary, Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, and Urvashi Rautela.
