Naga Chaitanya, who hasn’t had a blockbuster hit in a while, might change things with Custody, directed by Venkat Prahu. The trailer of Custody promises that the film is a fast-paced action-drama about an honest constable, who fights to take a criminal in his ‘custody’ and produce him before the court.

Chaitanya plays the role of Shiva, a new constable, who wants to be true to his profession. In the trailer, we see him receiving flak from his boss for stopping the Chief Minister’s car instead of guarding it.

On the other hand, Arvind Swami plays the role of a criminal, who has committed numerous murders. Going by the trailer, the story is about Chay as Shiva fighting a hard battle against his own department with only his lover (played by Krithi Shetty) for his support.

For Venkat Prabhu, Custody seems to be a new attempt as the director is known for light-hearted comedy dramas. Even his heist film Manaktha, starring Ajith, didn’t have the sober tone of Custody. Talking about the story, Prabhu, in a recent media interaction in Hyderabad, said that it is about a hero trying to keep the villain alive against all odds.

Samapthat Raj, Sarathkumar, Priyamani, Premji, Vennela Kishore, and Premi Vishwanath also star in the film, which has music by father-son duo Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. The movie was simultaneously shot in both Tamil and Telugu, and it will hit theatres on May 12.
