Chiranjeevi to headline Anil Ravipudi’s follow-up to the 2025 blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunnam

The Chiranjeevi-Anil Ravipudi project, titled Mega 157, is expected to be a 2026 Sankranthi release. Apart from this film, Chiranjeevi also has the Srikanth Odela film and Vishwambhara in the pipeline.

The festive occasion of Ugadi, which is considered to be one of the most auspicious days of the year, is special for Telugu people all over the world. And on such a day, one of the most-awaited collaborations in Telugu cinema was officially announced. ‘Megastar’ Chiranjeevi is set to join forces with blockbuster director Anil Ravipudi for his next. Tentatively titled, Mega157, the film is produced by Sahu Garapati and Sushmita Konidela under their banners, Shine Screens and Gold Box Entertainments, respectively. The film is expected to be Anil’s Sankranthi release for 2026.

Anil, who has made delivering blockbusters on Sankranthi a habit, is working with Chiranjeevi for the first time. Incidentally, the filmmaker’s frequent collaborator Venkatesh sounded the clapboard at the launch of the film, and legendary filmmaker K Raghavendra Rao directed the first shot. Another important aspect of the pooja ceremony was the ‘switching on the camera’ and it was done by Allu Arvind. Other dignitaries in the event include Dil Raju and Naga Vamsi.

Sharing photos from the launch event, the makers wrote, “A stellar beginning for Team Mega 157 at the auspicious Pooja Ceremony. The #ChiruAnil opening event was a star-studded spectacle, with producers, directors, and celebrated icons from the industry gracing the occasion and extending their heartfelt wishes to the team.”

Post his return to cinema after an extended political sojourn, Chiranjeevi has had a heady mix of films that blew hot and cold at the box office. With this collaboration with Anil, it is expected that Chiranjeevi will get back to a genre that made him a household name — family entertainers.

The film is expected to go on floors soon. It film marks a lot of firsts for Chiranjeevi, including the Megastar’s maiden collaboration with composer Bheems Ceciroleo, who delivered a blockbuster album for Anil’s latest box-office juggernaut, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam.

With cinematography by Sameer Reddy and editing by Tammiraju, the film is written by S Krishna and G Adi Narayana. While details about the rest of the cast and crew are still under wraps, it is speculated that the makers are planning to rope in Aditi Rao Hydari or Parineeti Chopra as the female lead.

Besides Mega 157, Chiranjeevi has a project with Dasara director Srikanth Odela, which is dubbed as the most violent Chiranjeevi film to date, and Vasisshta’s fantasy actioner, Vishwambhara.
