Anushka Shetty on her action image: ‘Just like hit man, I can be the hit woman’
In a recent interaction with Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty discussed her action image, the long gaps between her projects, and the violence in her films.

Anushka Shetty is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Ghaati. The movie, which revolves around a community’s rebellion against the drug mafia, will see Anushka returning to her action avatar. In a recent interaction with her close friend and colleague Rana Daggubati, Anushka discussed her action image, the long gaps between her projects, and the violence in her films.
The conversation began with Rana highlighting that Anushka is often the go-to choice for directors making women-led action films. “I don’t know why that is. Even I am thinking of why that is,” said the actress.
Rana Daggubati then asked Anushka Shetty about the excessive violence in her films. Anushka responded, “The amount of violence in my films Arundhati, Baahubali, and now Ghaati, I was just telling Krish that, just like a hitman, can I be the hitwoman?” To this, Rana replied, “For these kinds of stories, who else would they cast other than you?”

Anushka also spoke about the long gaps between her films. “I need to do more films. I definitely want to choose good scripts and work a little more often. From next year, you’ll see more of me. That’s something everyone has been asking, and I’m consciously working towards it.”
Lastly, Anushka Shetty talked about her working relationship with Ghaati director Kris Jagarlamudi. “Only he can give me such unique characters. Saroja was handled with such innocence, and it remains one of my best roles. With Ghaati, again, the characters are written very differently. Sheela and the others stand apart in the way they’re projected.”
Ghaati also stars Vikram Prabhu, Chaitanya Rao Madadi, Jagapathi Babu, Raghav Rudra Mulpuru and Jisshu Sengupta. The film will hit theatres on September 5.
