The stampede occurred on December 4 during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rise at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre. Allu Arjun was attending the screening with his wife and co-star Rashmika Mandanna when the overcrowded venue led to chaos, resulting in a stampede. The incident claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman named Revathi and left her eight-year-old son hospitalized with severe injuries.
Following the tragedy, the Pushpa 2 team announced their support for the affected family, pledging to cover the boy’s medical expenses. However, a case was registered against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management for their alleged role in the mishap. The actor was arrested in connection with the case on December 13 but was released on interim bail the following day.
The incident also drew criticism from Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who held Allu Arjun responsible for the tragedy. This prompted the actor to hold a press conference to clarify his stance and express his condolences to the victim’s family.
On Sunday, tensions escalated as Allu Arjun’s Hyderabad residence was attacked by a group of men claiming to belong to the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU JAC). The group demanded justice for the deceased woman. The situation was brought under control and the police arrested the protesters.
