Akhil Akkineni calls Konda Surekha a ‘sociopath’, Nagarjuna dismisses her comments as ‘completely irrelevant, false’

Naga Chaitanya's father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, brother Akhil Akkineni and step mother Amala Akkineni have condemned the statements made by Konda Surekha.

Naga Chaitanya’s family members have responded to the allegations made by Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, who implied that politician KT Rama Rao was responsible for the divorce of Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, his brother, Akhil Akkineni, and step mother, Amala Akkineni, have condemned the statements made by Konda Surekha, who has since retracted them.

Nagarjuna took to X to condemn Konda Surekha’s comments. He wrote, “I strongly condemn the comments of the Honorable Minister Mrs Konda Surekha. Don’t use the lives of movie stars who stay away from politics to criticize your opponents. Please respect other people’s privacy. As a woman in a responsible position, your comments and accusations against our family are completely irrelevant and false. I request you to withdraw your comments immediately.”

Konda Surekha, as quoted by Deccan Herald, had said, “KTR asked to send Samantha in return for not demolishing the N-convention centre. Nagarjuna forced Samantha to go to KTR, but she said no. That led to divorce.” She reportedly also claimed, “It is KT Rama Rao because of whom Samantha’s divorce happened. He was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of the actresses and then find their weaknesses to blackmail them. He used to make them drug addicts and then do this. Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family, everybody is aware that such a thing happened.” Konda Surekha made similar statements about KT Rama Rao in April too. Back then, she was warned by Election Commission.

Nagarjuna’s wife Amala Akkineni said that Konda Surekha was “preying on decent citizens as fuel for a political war.” She shared on X, “Shocked to hear a woman minister turn into a demon, conjuring evil fictions allegations, preying on decent citizens as fuel for a political war. Madam Minister, do you rely and believe people with no decency to feed you utterly scandalous stories about my husband without an iota of shame or truth? This is really shameful. If leaders lower themselves into the gutter and behave like criminals, what will happen to our country? Mr Rahul Gandhiji, if you believe in human decency, please restrain your politicians and make your minister retract her venomous statements with an apology to my family. Protect the citizens of this country.”

He wrote, “My dear mother I support every word you have said and I am With you and the family… I’m sorry that you have to address this demonic nonsense but we have no choice sometimes but to deal with such sociopaths.”

Later, Konda Surekha retracted her statement via social media as she wrote on Twitter, “My comments are meant to question a leader’s belittling of women and not to hurt your @Samanthaprabhu2 sentiments. The way you have grown up with self-power is not only an admiration for me.. but also an ideal..” In another tweet, she wrote, “If you or your fans are offended by my comments, I unconditionally retract my comments.. Don’t think otherwise.”

Samantha and Chaitanya have already dismissed Konda Surekha’s statements and shared that their divorce was mutual. The actors got married in 2017 and announced their separation in 2021. Chaitanya is now engaged to actor Sobhita Dhulipala.
