‘Nobody has loved me’: Urvashi Dholakia opens up about why she has remained single following her divorce at age 18
Actor Urvashi Dholakia opened up about why her relationship with Anuj Sachdeva didn't work out, and said that she hasn't found true love in nearly three decades following her divorce.

Actor Urvashi Dholakia, who is best known for her work in daily soaps and reality shows, opened up about her love life. In a new interview, Urvashi said that she hasn’t found true love in nearly three decades after her divorce. She tied the knot at 16, gave birth to twin sons at 17, and was separated by 18. Since then, Urvashi said in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, she has seriously dated somebody only once, because she doesn’t believe in casual relationships. She said that she has now made peace with the fact that she won’t find true love, but said that nobody can love her like her parents did.
Asked if people tried to hit on her when she returned to the industry after her divorce, when she was single but in an emotionally vulnerable place, Urvashi said, “No, not at all. Obviously, along the way, people feel attractions, but I was too focused. I would friend-zone a lot of people. Whenever I got the sense that they had ulterior motives, I would put a stop to it right there. I was very clear.”
She continued, “The truth is, nobody has loved me. They have loved me in bits and pieces, but what they didn’t understand was that they were also loved in bits and pieces. Nobody can love you wholly. I believe only parents can love you wholly.” Urvashi said that she locked herself up in a room for one month after her divorce, before deciding to pick herself back up and provide for her children. Since then, she said, she hasn’t had ‘stable’ relationships.
She opened up about why her relationship with Anuj Sachdeva fell apart, and said that it was mainly ‘bad timing’, as her father was ill. “Anuj and I met at a time when again I went into a very vulnerable state. I was at the brink of losing my father. We met at that time. When I look back on that relationship, I think the timing was off. I was in a very weird place. We’d barely confessed our feelings to each other, and my father went into a coma, and within three months, he passed away. I didn’t know how to take it forward. I don’t blame him.”
Urvashi said that she became very isolated following her father’s death, and mentally couldn’t give the relationship the attention that it needed to thrive. She said that she is still friends with Anuj, who stood by her during this difficult period, but that there is no chance of them reconciling because they have both moved on.
