Comedy series The Kapil Sharma Show will be going off air temporarily. For the last couple of years, Kapil Sharma has been practicing taking breaks in order to spend some time with his family. The makers also get a chance to introduce some changes to the show and the cast during these breaks.

“Seasonal breaks have actually worked for the show giving us a chance to stir up things in terms of content and cast. Also, comedy is a tough genre and actors need a break so that monotony doesn’t set in. Everyone can return refreshed and we can experiment with a different format and some new characters,” a source told indianexpress.com. They also shared that while the last date is yet to be finalised, the team is likely to wrap the shoot in May, and the last episode of the season will air in June.

The source further added, “Kapil Sharma also has an international tour lined up and thus the decision to take a break at this time came in. The team, as of now, plans to shoot a bank of episodes so that their fans do not miss them for long. However, the duration of the break hasn’t been decided as of now.”

Kapil Sharma had taken a similar break in 2021 and 2022 as well. After being temporarily off air, the show returned in six months’ time with some new cast members. However, the last time the show made a comeback, Krushna Abhishek and Chandan Prabhakar did not return. While Krushna said he had some contract issues with the channel, Chandan wanted to try newer avenues. It is yet to be seen if Krushna and Chandan will return this time around.

The Kapil Sharma Show launched in 2016 on Sony TV. Post Kapil Sharma’s fallout with Sunil Grover and Ali Asgar, the show had taken a break in 2017, only to return the following year. Over the years, actors like Sumona Chakravarti, Archana Puran Singh, Kiku Sharda, Bharti Singh, Rochelle Rao and Srishty Rode, among others, have been part of the show.

The Kapil Sharma Show is produced by Salman Khan Television and Banijay Asia.
