Asit Kumarr Modi confirms Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah isn’t going off-air after ‘Boycott TMKOC’ trends over Dayaben: ‘Not an easy task…’
Asit Kumarr Modi has quashed rumours calming that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is going off-air after 'Boycott TMKOC' trends on social media over Dayaben's non-show.

The controversies surrounding Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) doesn’t seem to end. Recently, Boycott TMKOC started trending on social media. This sparked speculations about the popular show possibly going off-air due to ongoing negative feedback in recent months. However, the show’s producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, has dismissed these rumours.
According to Telly Chakkar, Asit Modi said, “I’m here to entertain my audience and I will never lie to my viewers. Only due to certain circumstances, we are unable to bring Daya’s character back on time. But, that does not mean that the character is not going to enter the show at all! Whether it is Disha Vakani or someone else, the time will tell. But, it’s my promise to the audience that Daya will be back, and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is going nowhere. It is not an easy task to run a comedy show for fifteen years. It is one of a kind, which has not witnessed a single leap.”
Disha Vakani portrayed Dayaben, Jethalal’s wife, in the sitcom for nearly ten years, from 2008 to 2017, but departed from the show six years ago. Earlier this year, Modi confirmed the team was conducting auditions to find a new actress for the role of Dayaben and had hinted at the character’s return during the Diwali episodes. However, in a recent episode, the character of Dayaben did not rejoin the Gokuldham Society. This prompted the trending of #BoycottTMKOC on social media, with fans accusing Asit Modi of making false assurances. The trend led to speculations about the show’s potential cancellation. Asit Modi, however, has refuted such claims.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completed 15 years in July 2023.
