One of the most intriguing pitches on Shark Tank India 4 came from the makers of the sustainable fashion brand, Dorabi. Led by Ashima Batra and her family, the hand-dyed fabric brand left many sharks impressed. Recently, Ashima hosted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit, where she addressed various questions about the reality show. She spoke about ignoring Ritesh Agarwal’s offer and responded to speculation that Anupam Mittal invested in her business solely because she is “pretty.”

During the AMA, when Ashima was asked why they ignored Ritesh, the founder said, “Trust me, I have been thinking about this question myself that did I ignore him because in that moment to be very honest, when three sharks are fighting amongst themselves, it is so intimidating to intervene at that point, when the counter came from Anupam for the two of them, I assumed that Ritesh has bowed out, but I think I got that clarity after the show, and when Ritesh clarified that he would have wanted to do the deal alone and not with other two Shark, so I am quite sure now that we didn’t ignore him. Thank God.”

Another netizen pointed out comments on Reddit that suggested Ashima Batra bagged a deal from Anupam Mittal because she was “pretty”. Ashima responded, “Because they think he invests in pretty girls? Lol, yeah, I read that. Boy, my life would be far easier if that were all it took, but unfortunately, crores of investments take a lot more. Six months of an excruciating process and a very detailed investigation happen before you’re even considered to be standing in front of them, but that’s all off-camera. So, unfortunately, that thesis is wildly wrong!”

Ashima also shared how their original pitch went on for 1 hour 45 minutes and a major chunk of it was edited. Later, she revealed that she had expedited the men’s line of her fashion brand after Aman showed interest in it and joked about becoming its brand ambassador. Sharing what she thought about the same, Ashima wrote, “I think Aman has such a great face value, and he imbibes the core philosophy of Dorabi so well. We are actually expediting the men’s line because of his involvement.”
