Rajan Shahi produced Anupamaa starring Rupali Ganguly in the titular role has been going through a rough patch of late. In October, the show was in trouble after some of its actors quit and later hinyed at the lead actress’s insecurity pushing them to exit. Following this, Rupali made headlines after her stepdaughter Esha Verma made shocking claims, alleging the actor was responsible for the end of her parents’ marriage. Over the weekend once again Anupamaa was in the spot after a camera assistant died on the set.
Amid these reports, Anupamaa has also seen a TRP drop for the first time in four years, with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai taking the first place.

Also produced by Rajan Shahi, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has taken the lead spot, putting Anupamaa in the second position. Reacting to this huge development, the show’s former cast member Sudhanshu Pandey spoke to News 18. The actor, who used to play Vanraj Shah commented on the fall in TRPs for Anupamaa, saying, “I think it’s incredible that the show sustained its number one position for four years. It is not easy for a daily show to sustain the number one position, the charm, the interest, and everything. Four years is a long time. They have done an incredible job with that. If it is going down a little bit, I think it is absolutely okay because it is inhuman for any show to just be there on top continuously. Thoda bahut upar neeche toh hoga (there are always minor ups and downs) and I think that is natural.”
Unfortunately, the show witnessed a tragedy on Thursday night when a 32-year-old camera attendant got electrocuted on the set. Following his demise, the AICWA president told SCREEN, “The channel, producer, and production house have been trying to suppress the matter. Such incidents keep happening every time on sets because the production houses and channels don’t provide enough safety precautions to save a few pennies. What is more disrespectful is that at 9:30 PM, a worker lost his life. Despite this tragic incident, the shooting was not halted and continued relentlessly until midnight at Film City. Shockingly, the shooting resumed the very next day, showing a blatant disregard for the loss of life.”
