Rashami Desai opens up about facing casting couch incident as a teenager: ‘He tried to…’

In a recent interview, Rashami Desai opened up about a casting couch experience that ended with her mother slapping the man who made her feel uncomfortable.

Actor Rashami Desai has been a fixture on Indian television screens for years. She recently opened up about a casting couch incident she faced in the initial years of her career. In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Rashami said that she was just 16 when it happened. She said, “Unfortunately, I experienced something like this, and I have spoken on many occasions about this.”

Rashami continued, “The internet is filled with so many such stories already. I remember I was called for an audition, and when I went there, there was no one else except (the man). I was just 16 back then, and he tried to make me unconcious. I was uncomfortable, but somehow managed to escape. After a few hours, I told everything to my mother.”

She added, “I remember the next day, I went to meet him with my mother and my mother had slapped him to teach a lesson. Casting couch is a real thing, but then, every industry has good and bad people. I am fortunate to have worked with some fabulous people, with whom I have had a good working experience. God has been kind.”

Rashami, who gained fame for her roles in Uttaran and Dil Se Dil Tak, is looking to transition to films. Her upcoming projects include Mission Laila, Hisaab Barabar, and Evara – Blessing of God in Hindi. She is also exploring regional cinema, and is shooting for a Gujarati film called Mom Tane Nai Samjay. She is also working on a Punjabi film called Chambe Di Booti.
