Rahul Vaidya explains what really happened with Virat Kohli ‘blocking’ him on Instagram: ‘He must be laughing about it now’
Rahul Vaidya claimed Virat Kohli's fans have been abusing his family ever since he claimed the ace cricketer blocked him on Instagram.

Singer Rahul Vaidya has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Last year, he claimed ace cricketer Virat Kohli blocked him on Instagram. Recently, he took a potshot at Kohli by calling him a “joker.” And a few days later, the singer buried the hatchet by claiming the cricketer has unblocked him on the social media platform. Now, Vaidya has opened up about the entire chain of events.
“I couldn’t see Virat Kohli’s profile on Instagram. I don’t know whether he blocked me or what the actual reason was. And I’ve been a huge fan of his, as a batsman. He’s one of the most incredible batsmen we’ve ever had,” said Vaidya in an interview with Instant Bollywood,. He claimed the situation got ugly after he reacted to Kohli’s explanation on ‘liking’ actor Avneet Kaur’s Instagram post.
The singer continued, “At that time, he had liked an influencer’s post. He put up a Story and said it was an Instagram glitch. How can it be a glitch? That’s so funny. Just admit you ‘liked’ it accidentally, that’s okay.”
Rahul Vaidya had reacted to Virat Kohli’s explanation through a “funny” remark. “I said just like that’s an Instagram glitch, me getting blocked is also a glitch. Maybe he’s not done it. I’ve said it in a funny way, not angrily. His fans began abusing me, my family, and my sister in the comments. Anybody would feel angry if they’re being abused unnecessarily,” said Vaidya.
“So I wrote, ‘Virat Kohli’s fans are even bigger jokers than him.’ Now, you’d ask me why I called him a joker? Because somewhere, I was referring to his comment that ‘liking’ a post was an Instagram glitch. And joker is not a bad word. I just found his explanation funny. I didn’t abuse anyone. That got blown up so much,” added the singer.
Rahul Vaidya said a “ceasefire” has been declared between him and Virat Kohli’s fans now. “I was travelling in car when suddenly, Instagram suggested me Virat Kohli’s profile. I couldn’t see it for so many days, and then how could I see it suddenly? Maybe he never blocked me. It was a misunderstanding. I thought he’d blocked me, but he’d never blocked me. If you can’t see someone’s profile that you could earlier, isn’t it natural to assume they blocked you? I kept thinking then if I have ever said or DMed anything negative about Virat Kohli. Never! I’d always appreciate him. I was always supportive of him. It’s just a minor thing which has blown out of proportion. But I guess that’s what people enjoy.”

Vadiya added that he plans to DM (direct message) Virat Kohli on Instagram to apologize. “If you’re fond of someone, you can just say, ‘I regret the whole thing.’ In fact, his brother Vikas Kohli had asked me to focus on my singing instead. But he’s the same Vikas Kohli who met me outside Oval Stadium (in London) and heaped praises on my singing,” revealed Vaidya. The singer realized the misunderstanding caused Virat’s family distress which is why Vikas claimed Vaidya did it for publicity. Now that it’s all over, Virat must be laughing about it too, said Vaidya.
