Mohit Raina recalls how an old woman rebuked him for stopping her from touching his feet: ‘That day I gave in…’
In a recent interview, Mohit Raina opened up about fans' spiritual connection with his Mahadev character, and recalled an incident where he fainted on the set.

Mohit Raina may have projects like Uri, Kaafir, Shiddat or Mrs Serial Killer to his credit but fans still recognise him as Lord Shiva. The actor essayed the Hindu God in the television show Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev. It not only made him an overnight star but also helped him find a personal connect with his fans.
In an interview with Ranveer Allahabadi, Raina recalled a sweet incident that made him realise how he’s a connection between fans and the almighty. The actor said that once an elderly woman came up to him and touched his feet. As he stopped her citing that she was his grandmother’s age, the lady told him he had no right to stop her.
“She said, ‘I am not touching your feet.’ You are just the medium for me to connect with my God. You cannot stop me from connecting spiritually to him in those few seconds. That was the day I gave in, realising that I was just a medium for them. I cannot keep them away from that connection,” he shared while talking about fans getting emotional while meeting him.

While talking about his belief regarding energies, Mohit Raina shared an incident where he fainted during the shoot of the show. He said that it was a scene where he had to shout loudly with his hands wide open. As he wasn’t supposed to make a sound for a wide shot, he opened his mouth gesturing a shout. “At that moment, I stopped breathing and my brain did not get any oxygen. That duration passed the normal limit and I fell flat on the floor. I regained consciousness after a few seconds and realised what had happened,” he shared, adding that he felt bad energies seeping into him in that low moment.
Mohit Raina on breaking out of ‘Lord Shiva’ image
In a recent conversation with indianexpress.com, we discussed with Mohit how playing mythological characters on screen leaves a lifelong impact on audiences’ minds. Earlier this year, the Adipurush team received backlash for its colloquial language and modern looks, pressing on the fact that viewers like to see such characters in a certain way. However, Mohit Raina shared that he did not face issues trying to break out from his image. “Earlier, during Ramayan and Mahabharat, people believed these actors to be gods. But now, with social media and actors appearing at different events, that image gets broken easily. I think I was just lucky to have never faced anything like that.”
