Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2: Smriti Irani’s show to go on air from July 3, Sudhanshu Pandey said he was approached too
Other than Smriti Irani, Amar Updhayay, Shakti Anand, and Kamalika Guha Thakurta will also be seen reprising their roles in Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi 2.
On Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s 25th anniversary, Ekta Kapoor announced that she is bringing a second season for the show. Since then, the buzz around it has only gotten stronger. Recently, a few reports stated that actress and politician Smriti Irani had officially signed the contract for the show. Other than Smriti, actor Amar Upadhyay, Shakti Anand, and Kamalika Guha Thakurta will also be seen in the new season. Now, SCREEN has learnt that the new season will air on Star Plus from 3rd July.
Earlier, there were reports that Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 would appear on the OTT space. Especially after Netflix India and Balaji’s collaboration, many wondered whether the show was going to stream on Netflix. However, no official confirmations have been made regarding the same. A few days back, it was also reported that the actors have begun shooting for the new season, and what further piqued excitement was Shakti Anand’s social media post with Amar and Kamalika. Sharing the photos on Instagram, Shakti wrote, “Mihir, Hemant and Gayatri…Kyunki…. It’s reunion time!!”

While a lot many details about Smriti Irani’s show have been kept under wraps, on Saturday, Ekta Kapoor had reshared a picture of the entire Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi cast from 2003 on her Instagram Stories.
Sometime back, there were reports that actor Sudhanshu Pandey was also approached for the show to play Mihir Virani’s role. In an exclusive conversation with SCREEN, the actor who played Vanraj Shah in Anupamaa shared that he had gotten a call. He said, “I was approached once by somebody from Balaji, I don’t know what it was for, and I was asked how much I would charge. That is all, there is nothing more to that.”
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabi Bahu Thi went on to become an iconic show on Indian television. The show had premiered in 2000 and had a successful run till 2008. As for the new seasons, while there have been reports and speculations, Ekta Kapoor or Balaji Productions have not yet spoken anything about the show officially.
