Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent has landed a mysterious role in the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones

Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent has landed a mysterious role in the upcoming seventh season of popular fantasy series Game of Thrones. Broadbent is the first new face for the series’ next instalment, reported Aceshowbiz. His role is kept under wraps, but it is said to be a significant one.
Jim Broadbent won an Oscar for his role in 2001’s film Iris. The 67-year-old British actor is also known for his role in Moulin Rouge!. His other credits include films Time Bandits, Brazil, Bridget Jones’s Diary and the Harry Potter film franchise (as Horace Slughorn) as well as TV movie Longford that helped him earn a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination.
Production on season 7 of Game of Thrones will begin soon in Northern Island, as some of the stars have recently been spotted around Belfast. The new season will not air until summer 2017, later than its usual spring premiere, and will only consist of seven episodes.
The Game of Thrones series had a lot of Harry Potter cast members some of whom went unnoticed. Actress Michelle Fairly, who played a minor role as Hermione’s mother, got a prominent role of Catelyn Stark. However cast members such as like Natalia Tena and David Bradley who played the role of Nymphadora Tonks and Argus Filch in the film franchise, recieved moderately prominent roles in Game of Thrones as Osha and Walder Frey. However they won’t be continuing their roles anymore as their respective characters were killed in the previous season.
