Television soap queen Ekta Kapoor is ready with a major line-up of brand new television shows. And to begin with, she is coming out with its highly anticipated and one of her costliest shows - Chandra Nandni. The first teaser of the historical drama was released by its makers just two days ago. And the amount of excitement it has already generated, we are surely looking ahead for a successful outing for the show. Chandra Nandni is based on the love story between king Chandragupta Maurya and his wife Nandni and will air on Star Plus. Actors Rajat Tokas and Shweta Basu Prasad have been roped in to play the lead roles. Rajat, who became known for playing young Prithviraj Chauhan, also acted in Dharam Veer and Jodha Akbar. And looking at his choice of shows, he has surely become the first choice for playing historical characters on the small screen. Should we blame his good looks, amazing physique or acting skills? He is surely suiting his latest character too. On the other hand, Shweta will be making her comeback on television with Chandra Nandni. To jog your memories, Shweta began her career as a child actor with films like Iqbal, and also won a National Award for Makdee. Considering the two actors are teaming up for the first time, the audience is already expecting much. Shweta has garnered much appreciation in the first teaser of the show, where she is in her character of princess Nandni. Here is the teaser. The show apparently revolves around the love-hate relationship between Chandragupta and Nandni, whose wedding was more like an alliance. We also got hold of some exclusive images of Rajat Tokas in his royal avatar from the show. Check them out. Earlier reports said Chandra Nandni was set to replace Star's other mythological show Siya Ke Ram. But we got to know that while Siya Ke Ram has got an extension, Chandra Nandni will now premiere on October 10 and at 8.30 PM slot. Interestingly, Star has a history of all its shows which received the 8.30 time slot, being pulled down unexpectedly due to poor ratings. Many a times it is also referred as the 'cursed time slot' for Star. Whether or not, Chandra Nandni will be able to break the jinx, only time will tell. As of now, we are awaiting the second teaser of the show starring Rajat Tokas which is set to release in a day or two. Watch this space for more.
