On Saturday, Tehseen Poonawalla was evicted by host Salman Khan from Bigg Boss 13. He was nominated along with Sidharth Shukla, Mahira Sharma, Paras Chhabra, Shehnaaz Gill, Arhaan Khan and Shefali Jariwala. When he entered the show, the entrepreneur and political analyst was confident that he will win the show but got eliminated in just six days.

On his eviction, he exclusively told indianexpress.com, “I am very happy to be back. I am needed right now in the outside world and so I am glad that things could work out accordingly. I have always enjoyed doing unexpected things. Sometimes situations don’t turn the way you want to. Every batsman wants to score a century when they come on the field. But not everyone manages to do that.”

Tehseen’s wife recently posted on her social media that he was required to be outside the show for prior political commitments. When asked to explain if this was always planned, he said, “I cannot talk about it. I am under contract and cannot reveal anything about it at this time. All I can say is that I do not regret anything. I had the most wonderful time on the show. Everyone was really nice to me.”

On Saturday’s episode, Salman Khan pulled up Tehseen saying that he was ‘unseen’ on the show. Clarifying his stand, the evicted contestant said, “I don’t know why I wasn’t shown in the episodes. I think I entertained people and also interacted with everyone. It’s just that as a person, I don’t enjoy bitching, so whenever housemates sat down to backbite each other, I would step out. And I have been appreciated by the public for the same. But when I was not doing anything like that, how would I give content? So I have no complaints.”

Interestingly, Tahseen indulged in a couple of fights after he got nominated. Ask him if that was a strategy to be in limelight, he said, “Not at all. I wasn’t even thinking about the same. If that was the case, I would have been fighting from day one. With Sidharth Shukla, the argument happened over a small topic. Since we both are alpha males, none of us backed out and so it looked like a big fight. But after some time we were back to being friends and having a good time.”

The columnist was also criticised over the words he used against Asim Riaz. Seeming shocked at the buzz, Tehseen said, “It’s shocking that people took it as free publicity. Why would anyone do that? It was a minor thing and we resolved it soon. However, I did apologise to him in case I was harsh. So I don’t know why it is being blown out of proportion. People are just trying to milk the situation and gain some footage for themselves.”

He also shared that he wasn’t bothered about how Hindustani Bhau made fun of his appearance, “Vikas is making fun of everybody. If he thinks that’s entertainment, that’s his choice. I wouldn’t want to even react to it. Also, as you have seen, I was the only person calling him Vikas and not Bhau. I had two choices over his jokes on me. I could have either reacted and shot back or joined him for a laugh. And I did the latter, as I thought that was a classy way to handle it. I don’t think I will ever joke about anyone’s physical appearance.”

Mentioning that he is happy with his short stint, Tehseen added that anyone among the contestants could win the show. “Everyone is doing a fabulous job. It would be wrong to mention just one name.” We also quizzed him if Bigg Boss was a wrong show for him, or he would have a better chance if he entered the show from the start. “I have no regrets. I had a good experience and came out with dignity. Also, I did what I did, so I don’t think there could be any right time,” Tehseen Poonawalla concluded.
