Rupali Ganguly will give Sarabhai vs Sarabhai preference over Anupamaa, reveals Satish Shah: ‘That was her first condition’

Rupali Ganguly is a household name, thanks to her extremely popular Star Plus show Anupamaa. But her Sarabhai vs Sarabhai co-star Satish Shah recently revealed that Rupali’s first condition before signing Anupamaa was that she would give preference to Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, in case they had another season.

Satish Shah, in a chat with Bollywood Bubble, said that even though “everybody wants it (reunion/new season)”, they have become busier than when they first started. “Rupali is such a big star today,” he said and shared, “Rupali said that her first condition before signing Anupamaa was that if Sarabhai restarts, she’ll give it preference. And Rajah Shahi (Anupamaa producer) is such a wonderful guy, he said, ‘I understand your loyalty with Sarabhai. Why not?'”

Satish said that he often catches the reruns of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. “I watch it myself, I forget it’s me and I watch it and I laugh so much,” he said, adding, “To watch myself without realising it’s me and I laugh as if. this guy is good . I’m not kidding, I don’t know whether it’s funny, weird or strange.”

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai had Rupali Ganguly playing Monisha Sarabhai, a middle class woman who is married into a wealthier family. The show also starred Sumeet Raghavan, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajesh Kumar. The show originally aired as a comedy series on Star One and developed a cult following over the years. In 2017, the second season of the show streamed on Hotstar but did not receive the kind of praise that the first season had received.

Satish Shah will next be seen in the ZEE5 series United Kacche.
