Anita Hassanandani admits sex life changes after childbirth, highlights importance of being vocal about desires: ‘Ask your partner what you want’
Anita Hassanandani, in a new interview, spoke about life after childbirth and the importance of expressing oneself to their partners.

Life changes massively for every woman after they embrace motherhood, as it did for actor Anita Hassanandani. After welcoming her son, Aarav, in 2021, the actor experienced postpartum symptoms for a year, in addition to gaining weight. In a new interview, Anita, who recently made a comeback with the television series Suman Indori, spoke about how childbirth led to changes in her sex life, and left her with ‘mom-guilt’ for wanting to work.
In a conversation with Hauterrfly, when Anita was asked ‘if things change in terms of pleasure after having a child’, the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor said, “It does change a little bit.” However, she added, “But then, you also find it back. In a great marriage, your husband will always be there to find it back for you.”
Speaking about the importance of expressing desires openly to partners, Anita said, “I don’t think there is anything wrong in expressing yourself. If you are in a relationship or marriage and if you want to be happy, you rather ask that person for what you want than wait for them to realise. That way, you’re just wasting time. Sex is very important in a good relationship. So I think, if you love the person then you should be out there, asking your partner what you want.”
Anita also spoke about her learnings after embracing motherhood. She said, “The power of a mother, you feel like a superwoman, you actually do.” When asked how, Anita explained, “The way you want to protect your child, there is no comparison. It’s crazy. I didn’t know I was this strong. Whenever my son gets fever, I become so emotional. I know how to fix it when he is unwell. Motherhood teaches you how to handle a situation for your child.”
She also spoke about experiencing mom guilt as she returned to work. She added, “I love acting, and after a lot of thinking, I returned to work. Initially, I thought I would never make a comeback because I want to be there for Aarav, but you have to do things you love for yourself and learn to balance, because mom guilt is never going to go away. And then you don’t want to look back and say, ‘Hey, now my son has a life of his own, he is going to school, I should have returned to work.’ So I feel, if you feel you are ready to get back to work, do it.”
Anita, who made a brief appearance on the show Hum Rahein Ya Na Rahein last year, recently made a comeback to full-time work with Suman Indori. This marks her return after a five-year gap. She is married to a corporate professional, Rohit Reddy.
