Ajith Kumar‘s fans take pride in the actor’s dedication to his projects despite all odds. It is said that the actor has sustained many life-threatening injuries over the years, including a fracture of the spine. Now, a behind-the-scenes video from Ajith’s 2013 film Aarambam has re-surfaced online. In the clip, Ajith can be seen pulling off a stunt sequence on the bonnet of a speeding car.

As the car picks up speed, Ajith’s leg hits the bonnet and he loses his balance on top of the bonnet. The shot is called off immediately and the crew circles Ajith, who is seen lying on the bonnet in pain.

In an interview with the YouTube channel Cineulagam, Om Prakash, the cinematographer of Aarambam, spoke about what happened during the shot.

Prakash said, “So, he had jumped from another vehicle to the bonnet of the car. Arya was at the wheel and I was filming sitting next to him. My assistant told me something was wrong, and I took my eye off the viewfinder and saw what was happening. Ajith sir’s leg was continuously hitting the bonnet but he didn’t wince for a second and was continuing the shot. Another police vehicle was supposed to come around and fire at him… that was the shot. He kept at it despite the pain. We shouted and stopped the shot. The next day, he came back to the sets so that the shooting would not be stopped. He didn’t want to opt for a dupe and did the shot by himself again.”

When asked if a star like him has to do all risky stunts, Om Prakash said, “No, but he does because of the passion he has for cinema. Not just the stunt, he did the whole film with such dedication.”

The clip has gone viral among Ajith fans.

Ajith has been laying low for the past few months. He has been doing many road trips across the world as part of the Ride for Mutual Respect journey. Though it was announced that he is teaming up with director Magizh Thirumeni for Vidaamuyarchi, no further updates about the film have been shared till now. The delay has disappointed his fans as other Tamil stars are delivering big-budget films consistently. Vijay, a competitor of Ajith, has had two releases this year including Leo, which has become a blockbuster.
