Vidaamuyarchi Box Office Collection Day 1: Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith, Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Regina Cassandra and Arav, witnessed an overall occupancy of 61.24 per cent in the Tamil language.

Vidaamuyarchi Box Office Collection Day 1: After multiple delays, Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi finally hit theatres on Thursday. Despite the mixed reviews, the Magizh Thirumeni directorial is off to a decent start at the box office. On opening day, the film has earned over Rs 22 crore in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The Tamil action-drama witnessed an overall occupancy of 61.24 per cent in the Tamil language. The film had over 3600 shows in the Tamil language. Vidaamuyarchi has also released in Telugu with the title Pattudala. The Telugu version of the movie witnessed an occupancy of 12.82 percent. In Telugu, the film had close to 800 shows across India.
Ajith Kumar‘s previous release Thunivu, directed by Vinoth Kumar, had opened at Rs 28.6 crore. Similarly, his 2022 film Valimai opened at Rs 31.70 crore. Thunivu made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, earned about Rs 250 crore worldwide. Meanwhile, Valimai, made at a budget of Rs 150 crore, earned about Rs 234 crore.
Coming back to Vidaamuyarchi, the film, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 200 crore and also starring Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Regina Cassandra, and Arav in pivotal roles, opened on February 6 to mixed reviews. SCREEN’s Avinash Ramachandran wrote in his review, “Vidaamuyarchi, existing in this form, is a fascinating addition to the evolving standards of superstar films in Tamil cinema. It shows that difference has to come from top down, and when superstars like Ajith decide to play roles rather than images, and surrenders to the vision of directors like Magizh who have a distinct voice of their own, the result is there for everyone to see. Of course, Vidaamuyarchi is no Mankatha or Viswasam, but that’s the point. It doesn’t have to be. It doesn’t have to be at all.”
After Vidaamuyarchi, Ajith Kumar will be seen in the action comedy Good Bad Ugly, which is set to release in theatres in April.
