Varalaxmi Sarathkumar shuts down negative comments on fiancé Nicholai’s looks, first marriage: ‘He’s handsome; has cordial relationship with ex-wife’

Actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, known for her outspokenness, recently addressed the negative comments on her and her fiancé Nicholai Sachdev, asserting that they won't affect their relationship.

The year 2024 has thus far proven to be an amazing year for Tamil actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. While her first release of the year, Hanu-Man, emerged as a blockbuster, the thespian’s personal life also witnessed a major event as she got engaged to Mumbai-based gallerist Nicholai Sachdev in March. However, since their engagement, they’ve faced cyberbullying, mostly due to Nicholai’s appearance and previous marriage.

Meanwhile, Varalaxmi, known for her outspokenness, recently addressed these negative comments, asserting that they won’t affect their relationship. “Even my father married twice; there’s nothing wrong with it as long as he’s happy. I’ve seen how people talk about Nick; he’s handsome in my eyes. I don’t care about people who make negative comments about our relationship. Why should I answer to anyone? From the very beginning, I have avoided doing that,” Varalaxmi told Galatta Tamil, as reported by India Today. Varalaxmi is the eldest daughter of veteran Tamil actor Sarathkumar and his first wife Chaya.

The actor also mentioned having a cordial relationship with Nicholai’s former wife, emphasising the importance of maintaining positivity despite separation. “If two people are unable to remain together, it’s better they part ways. Why keep being unhappy? Though you guys couldn’t remain together, you can still maintain a cordial relationship. I have met his (Nicholai) ex-wife; she is an amazing person. His daughter is also a beautiful person,” she noted.

Stating that Nicholai possesses every quality she has ever looked for in a potential partner, Varalaxmi said, “He makes me laugh, supports my career, and always puts me first. He’s extremely loving, pampering, and fiercely protective of me and his family. We share a love for food; he even completes my sentences. We met 14 years ago, and instantly, there was something, but we didn’t date then. We stayed in touch as friends, and it’s only recently that love blossomed.”

She also mentioned that she has always been romantic but never found the right person to share it with. Varalaxmi further noted that Nicholai is a very private person with no social media accounts.

Following the success of Hanu-Man, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is currently gearing up for the release of the action thriller Raayan, helmed by Dhanush, who also plays the lead role in the film.
