Thanagalaan release date out: Vikram makes the big announcement with new poster

With the release of the intriguing making video of Thangalaan, featuring Vikram as an ageing tribal leader, expectations for the Pa Ranjith directorial venture skyrocketed. However, as always, Pa Raniith went into silent mode after raking up fans’ excitement. Now, the director and Vikram are back with a few updates about the film including the release date of the period venture. Thangalaan will be released worldwide on January 24, banking on the Republic Day holiday.

Vikram took to Twitter to share a new poster of the film along with another update that the teaser of Thangalaan will be unveiled on November 1. “A fiery story of a bygone era that’s waiting to be told & cherished,” the tweet read.

Thangalaan, produced by Green Studios, is set in Kolar Gold Mines and is about the fight over the land between the indigenous people of the area and foreign forces. The first promo of the film revealed that the film will feature war sequences between the two factions.

Earlier, Vikram tweeted, “And it’s a wrap! What a journey! Worked with some of the most amazing people and had some of the most evocative experiences as an actor. Was it just 118 working days between the first picture and the last. Thank you Ranjit for making us live this dream. Every single day.”

Other than Vikram, the film stars Pasupathy, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Malavika Mohanan in important roles. English actor Daniel Caltagirone is playing a role in the film, which has music by GV Prakash Kumar.

Meanwhile, Vikram will be seen in Gautham Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram, which is releasing after a long struggle on November 24.
