Sathyaraj addresses rumours of him playing PM Modi in a biopic

Sathyaraj recently addressed the rumors regarding his participation in an upcoming biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Actor Sathyaraj, best known for his iconic role as Kattappa in the Baahubali films, recently addressed the rumors regarding his participation in an upcoming biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was said that the veteran actor is playing the role of PM Modi. During a candid interaction with a Tamil website, Sathyaraj provided clarity on the speculations that have been rife within the film industry and among his fans.

In the interview with Minnambalam, Sathyaraj stated, “The news that I am acting in the Prime Minister Modi biopic is news even to me. Nobody has approached me to play PM Modi in the film. People spread random news on social media.”

He added, “Back in the day, newspapers used to come up with stories like ‘Yong woman murdered… Is it because of an illicit affair?’ Likewise, social media has become a place for such mindless rumors.”

Sathyaraj, a vocal Periyarist, has many times claimed that he wouldn’t act in a film with anti-Periyarist ideologies. Hence, the rumours left many wondering how Sathyaraj would have accepted to play Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the biopic.

Sathyaraj is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming film Weapon. He plays the role of a superhuman in the movie. The trailer of the film, also starring Rajiv Menon and Vasanth Ravi, has piqued the interest of fans. Weapon will be released in theatres on May 23. 

Earlier, a biopic of PM Modi was made by Omung Kumar with Vivek Oberoi playing the titular role. The film delved into Modi’s rise from humble beginnings to his current status as Prime Minister.
