Ponniyin Selvan sneak peek: Old friends Alwarkadiyan and Vandhiyadhevan meet again

Though Kalki Krishnamoorthy’s Ponniyin Selvan novel is predominantly a fictional work based on the Chola dynasty, Mani Ratnam seems to have been completely faithful to the book. Even when there is room for taking creative liberty, the director has preferred a faithful recreation of the novel series. A new glimpse from the film was released on Moviebuff Tamil, and it is a scene of Alwarkadiyan (Jayaram) rescuing Vandhiyadhevan (Karthi) from a fix.

After being tied up by Ravidasan and other Pandiyan assassins in a worn-out building, Vandhiyathevan is horrified by the haunting presence of someone. Later, it turns out to be Alwarkadiyan, who is dressed up as an Aghori. Alwarkadiyan is taken aback by how Vandhiyadhevan quickly figures out his disguise. He unties the Vaanar clan warrior. The scene ends with Vandhiyadhevan heading towards Palayaarai with the message that Ponniyin Selvan is alive. On the other hand, Alwarkadiyan heads towards Kanchipuram to find Aditya Karikalan.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan 2 concludes the story written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy in five parts over five years, from 1950 to 1954. Many attempted to adapt the 70 years old Tamil work but Mani has finally pulled it off with the backing of Lyca Productions.

Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Shobita Dhulipala are part of the lead cast. The film has music by AR Rahman, and it has been edited by Sreekar Prasad.
