Ponniyin Selvan 2 anthem: AR Rahman croons energetic ode to Mani Ratnam’s film, Arijit Singh aces the Hindi version
Mani Ratnam is gearing up for the release of Ponniyin Selvan 2, which hits theatres on April 28. Ahead of the film's release, AR Rahman has debuted a rousing anthem.

The second installment of director Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan is just a few weeks away from its grand theatrical release. Ahead of the big day, the film’s music composer, AR Rahman, has released the Ponniyin Selvan Anthem, which is sure to generate more hype for the epic historical film.
The Tamil song is sung by the Academy Award-winning Rahman himself, along with Nabyla. The Hindi version is sung by Arijit Singh and Benny Dayal. The song talks about the Chola empire’s glory. The music video features Rahman performing the song next to a throne. It also includes shots from the movie.

In the the trailer of Ponniyin Selvan 2, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan‘s character Nandini makes aggressive moves to end Vikram’s character Adithya Karikalan and the Chola empire. Meanwhile, Jayam Ravi’s titular character prepares to mount a resistance, and puts together an army to protect his kingdom. The trailer ends on a nail-biting note, with Nandini holding a sword, pointed at Vikram, as the former lovers stare at each other.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 will also reveal the mystery behind the person who saved Arunmozhi Varman. In the first part, she is referred to as the Oomai Rani, a mysterious character who looks like Nandini.
Ponniyin Selvan 1 received a blockbuster opening in the theatres upon its release on September 30, 2021. The film, which was released in multiple languages, is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s five-part 1955 novel by the same name. The movie boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Karthi and Sobhita Dhulipala.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 releases on April 28.
