After the mediocre performance of Prince, Sivakarthikeyan is back with a hit. Maaveeran, which was cleverly marketed, has struck gold at the box office as the film has minted Rs 50 crore from the worldwide box office in a matter of five days since its release.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned about Rs 34. 95 crore domestically in five days. While the collection on Sunday was around Rs 10 crore, it took a severe hit on Mondayand collected Rs 3.8 crore. However, it has to be seen if the Tamil film will stand against the Hollywood giants Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie which are releasing on July 21.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared that the film’s worldwide box office currently stands at Rs 50 crore.

The Telugu version of the film, Maaveeradu, has also done decently at the box office collecting about Rs 2.71 crore till Monday.

Directed by Madonne Ashwin, who won the National Award for Best Debut Director for Mandela, Maaveeran is about a comic artist named Sathya. Sathya stays away from any form of confrontation and after a near-death experience, he starts hearing a voice that becomes his biggest strength.

Alongside Sivakarthikeyan, the film also stars Aditi Shankar, Saritha, Mysskin, and Sunil. Vijay Sethupathi has given his voice to the unknown entity that guides Sivakarthikeyan’s character. Maaveeran, like most of the films these days, concluded with a hint at a sequel.
