At this rate, one cannot be sure whether Leo will take down Rajinikanth’s Jailer and become the biggest hit of Tamil cinema this year. The film has so far collected Rs 537 crore at the box office. On the other hand, the lifetime collection of Jailer is more than Rs 604 crore. Though Leo is still running in theatres with decent footfall, there’s a downward trend which might not help the movie earn as much as Jailer.

On Day 12, Leo made around Rs 4.5 crore in India (nett), and according to trade website Sacnilk’s early estimates, the collection will go down by about 50 lakhs on Day 13. The film is expected to earn about Rs 4 crore at the domestic box office. Though it is a huge number for Day 13, it is not good enough for Leo to beat Jailer.

On top of it, with forthcoming Diwali releases, Leo has only two weeks to take on Jailer. Currently, Leo is the third highest box office grosser in Tamil with 2.0 and Jailer in the first and second positions, respectively. It has to be seen if Leo will become the second-highest Tamil grosser or will Rajinikanth remain in the first two positions in Tamil.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Leo is part of the director’s shared cinematic universe, which also has Vikram and Kaithi. Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Gautham Menon, and Sandy are other actors in Leo. Vijay is next teaming up with Venkat Prabhu for Thalapathy 68, which has Meenakshu Chaudhry, Prashanth, Prabhdheva, Sneha, Laila, Mohan, and Jayaram in important roles.
