Lal Salaam teaser: Rajinikanth raises voice against mixing religion with sports

The visual unit begins with a cricket match in a village, as tension runs high on the pitch. Things change soon as seemingly communal clashes start taking place, intercut with riot-like visuals.

In comes Rajinikanth as Moideen Bhai, fighting goons and changing the gear of the film with his action piece, set to the tunes of AR Rahman’s music. “You have mixed religion with sports and have poisoned the minds of the children,” the superstar says towards the end of the video.

Lal Salaam also stars Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth, Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, Thangadurai. Backed and presented by Lyca Productions, the movie is gearing for a 2024 Pongal release. The film marks Aishwaryaa’s return to feature film direction eight years after Vai Raja Vai.

When Rajinikanth had wrapped Lal Salaam, Aishwaryaa had called directing her father “pure magic”. In an Instagram post, Aishwaryaa had written, “Making a movie with you is a miracle and you are pure magic appa.. #lalsalaam moideen bhai #anditsawrap🎬 for THE SUPERSTAR.”

Rajinikanth was last seen in Jailer, which stands as the biggest Tamil hit of the year. The film released in August this year.
