The Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 2 showed no sign of resurrection after a poor first week in theatres. The collections of the vigilante action drama dropped by nearly 80 percent on Monday, and the film has since trended on the same scale.  According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Indian 2 netted Rs 3.10 cr on its sixth day of release, effectively sealing its fate as a major box office bomb that might not crack the Rs 100 crore mark domestically.

With collections consistently ranging around Rs 3 cr for three days straight, Indian 2 has so far minted Rs 68.25 cr all-India nett. The figures are disappointing for the Shankar directorial, the sequel to the 1996 film Indian. India 2 sees Kamal Haasan reprise his role of the vigilante Senapathy. Globally, the film has grossed over Rs 120 cr.

Indian 2 will end its first week with a little more than Rs 70 cr, and from there on. In the Hindi belt, the game will pretty much be over for Indian 2 as the big release of the week, Bad Newz, will take over. The comedy drama is headlined by Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Amy Virk.

At this rate, Indian 2 won’t even cross the Rs 100 cr mark at the box office. In comparison to Indian 2, Kamal Haasan’s last Tamil film, Vikram (2022), had a solid run at the box office with a bigger opening of Rs 32 cr, which was seven crores higher than his latest. Not only was the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial well received, it also was a smashing hit, clocking Rs 143 cr all India nett in seven days. That’s a figure that Indian 2 will likely not cross globally in its lifetime.
