Selvaraghavan tells fan that he is not dead or retired: ‘I am back’
Selvaraghavan replies to fan who was missing the director and his quality films.

Director Selvaraghavan has seen better days. With films like Kadhal Kondein, 7G Rainbow Colony, and Mayakkam Enna, the director became a trendsetter in Tamil cinema in the 2000s. With bold takes on things and depictions of youth life, he quickly became a favourite of the millennials. However, for the past few years, Selva has not been able to meet the huge expectation he has set for himself.
Though Nenjam Marappadhillai (2021) had its share of takers, the film was not unanimously accepted by the audience. Later, the much-expected Naane Varuven, starring Dhanush, also turned out to be underwhelming, leaving fans disappointed.
One such fan took to Twitter to praise Selvaraghavan’s 2003 film Kadhal Kondein and said that those were the good old days that won’t come back. Little did he expect that Selvaraghavan will reply to the tweet. The director said that he is not dead or retired. Selva added that he had taken some time for himself and is now back.
The filmmaker wrote, “Why my friend? I’m not dead or retired. I have just spent some time for myself. I’m just in my forties. And I’m back (sic).”

Lately, Selvaraghavan has been concentrating on acting and was part of films like Vijay’s Beast, Bakasuran, and Saani Kayidham. He will next be seen in Vishal’s sci-fi film Mark Antony. The director has also signed up for a new untitled film with Telugu actor Sunil of Pushpa fame and Yogi Babu. However, he is yet to announce a directorial venture.
